Angel Army Update - WINTER 2018
Updated: Dec 29, 2018
Hello again everyone!! Time for another little update on the progress that Angel Army has made over the past few months! :D
As of this year, we now have an official partnership with Camp Electric where Angel Army has its own special discount code!! Any student who signs up for Camp Electric through our ministry (at any point throughout the year) gets to go for only $500 (saving them hundreds of dollars)...and Angel Army Ministries does all of the fundraising to cover their airfare!! This was a huge win for our ministry to be able to set up this partnership and is such a great opportunity for the students to grow in their musical talents, make new friends and acquaintances in the industry and grow in their faith all at the same time!! As of right now, we currently have 9 students and 3 chaperones signed up to attend in 2019...with more to come!!!
On August 4th, we held a Worship night at Joe and Gina’s house. We fed everyone fajitas, people swam, played games and then we all worshipped together. All in all...72 people from 8 different churches showed up!! It was an amazing evening and we can’t wait to do it again!! :D
August 28th marked the official kick off of The Landing at Compass Christian Church. The Landing is a great program designed to help teens through their hurts, habits and hang-ups in life. Angel Army owns the Worship for the program every week and Joe, Gina and Jorge are all involved as leaders as well!! It has been a great experience so far where we have been averaging 40-50 people each week (combination of students and leaders). Walls are being broken down and trusting relationships are being formed!! The students are inviting and bringing their friends, so it seems that we are doing something right!! We pray that God continues to bless the program and to bring the students that truly need to be there!! Our good friend Upton Ethelbah at Unity Design also helped with the design for a logo and t-shirt design for the program!!
Thanks to our good friend Upton Ethelbah at Unity Design, our website is now officially up and running!! Updates to come, but we have a great start with options for you to learn about us, see our blog updates, view photos, view a calendar of our upcoming events or even make a donation to the ministry!! Uppie also took care of all of the design work on our logo as well as the design work for the logo and t-shirts for The Landing!! Definitely hit him up if you ever need any work done!! Check out our website here...
At the beginning of September, some of the students of Angel Army and their families went to Lake Powell together for a little R&R...what a blessing it is for us to be able to enjoy life and God’s beauty together!! The bonds and friendships that are being formed are absolutely priceless!!
In November (this is HUGE!!!), we were blessed to be able to spend 2 ½ weeks doing life with our good friend Egypt Ali from Camp Electric. Egypt came all the way from Cleveland, Ohio and stayed with the Wayne family just to do life and share industry experience with the students of Angel Army! Egypt is an amazing Christian spoken word artist who plays 23 different instruments, has performed and toured with TONS of Christian artists, has her own studio with 4 sound engineers working under her...the list of credentials goes on and on! Oh wait...did I mention that she has been nominated for 2 Grammys now?!?! Her presence was amazing and the things that she shared with the students was both raw and uplifting! Her heart for Jesus is amazing and she is always happy to serve and build up others! While she was here, the students played multiple shows with her, recorded 16+ songs with her for a few different projects, wrote songs with her, played parts in an upcoming video that she is putting out and so much more! She is working to get Angel Army on Spotify and is spreading the word of our ministry! I am still trying to pick my jaw up off of the ground after thinking about just how much she poured in to us! We are so grateful and EXCITED to think that she wants to come back in March! Watch out for more exciting updates!
As soon as Egypt left, we had to start preparing for Christmas because we were scheduled to partner with First Baptist Church of Chandler for their Walk through Bethlehem event! Angel Army was proud to play sets on Friday and Sunday for this family friendly experience! We worked hard together and came up with some pretty cool acoustic versions of O Come, O Come Emmanuel, Little Drummer Boy, O Holy Night, Mary Did You Know, Hallelujah Christmas and Go Tell it on the Mountain. Such a great experience!
All in all, we have students involved in leading Worship or as student leaders at 7 different churches in the area and we are constantly looking for more churches to partner with! Considering the amazing hearts for Christ that our students have, how could we NOT?! We have some amazing opportunities coming up and believe it or not...Camp Electric is right around the corner! If you are considering doing some end of year giving, would you consider donating to Angel Army Ministries to help our students get to Camp? Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated! Just click the Donate link at the top of the page, then click on Donate Now...
If you are unable to help financially, would you please keep us in your prayers?! Please pray that everything that we do would glorify God and that we would show the love of Jesus everywhere we go! Please pray for every student involved, for their health, their safety and their growth. We are growing as a ministry and new students have come to do life with us. Please always pray that we would do nothing but build them up and help them to realize just how loved and talented they truly are!
It would also be super helpful if you would consider helping us to spread the word about our ministry and everything that we have going on! Please feel free to share our website or even this email with your friends and family!
Thank you so much for your prayers and your support!
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
